Our current culture promotes an “I want it right now” attitude toward many things including food and beverages, losing weight and even our health. If you feel bad and go to your M.D., he prescribes some kind of “fix-it” pill.
Once you get your prescription and read about the side effects you realize this is not a cure, just a band-aid for your symptoms. Sometimes further medications are needed to counteract the side effects from the first medicine. Even worse, you may need to be on these for the rest of your life.
Along with the instant health era, there is a growing alternative medicine field which uses old fashioned health remedies with new findings and technology. Different actions are used to help one attain good health such as diet, exercise, nutrients, herbs, supplements and other natural remedies such as using clay to pull toxins out of the body.
There are many different applications for natural, holistic medicine but they usually don’t happen “right now”.
If you have been eating a poor diet, leading a stressful life, feeling fatigued, have had a lack of energy or in general, not feeling well for some time, it may take a little bit of work to get yourself back up to par.
When using alternative treatments, the most important thing to remember is that you are working towards improving your health. If you are put on a regimen of nutrients and asked to change your diet, do it!
Listen to your practitioner and follow his/her advice. Experiencing some minor unpleasant symptoms is very common, such as feeling extremely tired. Expect this, as it’s your body’s way of getting rid of the effects of those bad eating habits you had. Be prepared to deal with these symptoms anywhere from days to months to get your body back to it’s healthy state.
If you stop halfway there and give up on the regimen, then expect to stay halfway well. You may find that you have to go through some difficulties that are uncomfortable such as your belly may ache for a couple days or you may feel extremely tired or you may have bloating or gas or whatever else. The thing is, you body may have some side-effects while it is going through a healing process.
Experiencing some of these symptoms in addition to the extra time to complete the healing process may explain part of the reasoning of how we arrived at today’s “instantaneous” society.
