You can see a brochure just about everywhere. You can see one in shopping malls, airports, grocery store aisles, terminals, and conventions. Different sizes and colors invade every nook and corner of jam-packed places. Sometimes they are disregarded, sometimes passersby pick them up. There are even instances when people pick them up to beat boredom. But whatever reason they have, there is always a brochure ready when you need it.

There’s no doubt that they are attention-grabbing, their flashy colors or big heavy font and their strategic locations made certain they would get your notice. But with all the other brochures out there, catching your attention isn’t enough. The real test of a great brochure is that it will stand out in the sea of other colorful pamphlets, enough to have you take one out from the rest.

To make your brochure stick out, you just need to follow a few steps.

First, know your target market. Without knowing your target readers, all efforts you poured into your creation would be useless. You should reach out to your intended market with materials that they like and understand. They may not exactly need it, but wanting and understanding it is enough.

Don’t clog your brochure with book-like text. Nothing kills the interest of an unwilling reader more than a dull text can. A short title in eye-catching font with an accompanying subtitle will do. The info on the next pages should be easy to read also, most preferably in a bullet format.

Don’t forget to include your company’s name and contact details. You would want customers to visit your showroom or contact your business for more information after reading the brochures you made. Forgetting to include your company’s contact info will defeat your aim.

The design should not only correspond to your intended market’s taste, but to your content too. Avoid design overkill. Use a uniformed color and font style on each page and stick to a single theme as to not confuse your readers and appear unprofessional.

And naturally, brochures should be in a conspicuous site where most of your intended readers can see. If your brochure is about a shopping’s big sale event, it is improbable that residents from another province would travel for hours just to be able to go to the sale.

Those are just some of the basic ways you should consider when you want your brochure to stand out. You could likewise try adding gleaming texts or other special effects or even have attractive girls to personally give out the brochures if you think those would help. But for starters, try the mentioned steps first to ensure your brochures would be given more than a passing glance by your intended market.
