Calle Obispo: One of the most colourful streets in La Habana Vieja, it boasts at No. 117 the town’s oldest remaining house (1648), a single-storey building repainted bright blue and white with fine tiled roof the same side, the Hotel Ambos Mundos at the corner of Mercaderes, has preserved Ernest Hemingway’s room as a small museum, with his bed, one of his old Royal typewriters and other memorabilia, including a facsimile of his manuscript of For Whom the Bell Tolls. There is a splendid view of the old town from the hotel’s rooftop bar. Across the street is the popular Caf Paris.
